Why? well there are lots of international nurses already working in Manchester and surrounding locations such as Salford and Bolton.

Let’s talk food.

Big culture shock when coming to the UK for most international nurses is FOOD. However, the wonderful thing about the UK is World Foods are imported and accessible.  However, when moving to a new country and immersing yourself into a new culture, you want to try the food.

In Manchester, great food is everywhere, with street markets, quirky cafes all over the city, and cuisines for all Manchester has this to offer.

People from Manchester are known as Mancunians – they are famous for being friendly, but you will not just interact with Mancunians, alongside all the international nurses, doctors allied health professionals, Manchester is also home to over 41,000 international students from across the globe.

So, wherever you are from, you will be sure to meet an incredibly diverse range of people.

Transport.

Manchester is well connected to various transport links, just two hours from London by train, or jet off to an international destination from Manchester Airport which is easily reached by train, car, coach, or taxi.

You can take the tram through Manchester with an expanding network, it is quick and easy to get around the city and can buy a daily, weekly, monthly, or annual pass depending on how frequently you use the network. Sames goes for buses and trains.

Festival Life

Did you know that Manchester is known as the rainy city, so be prepared for this and buy and umbrella and a raincoat but rest assured the weather will never stop a celebration.

Manchester International Festival commissions, produces and presents dynamic work by new leading artists from different art forms and backgrounds.

Pride in Manchester is not to be missed, spanning huge areas of the city where people come together to celebrate and support  the LGTBQ + community.

Chinese New Year Celebrations Light up the city with an iconic parade through  the streets of China town.

Let’s not forget MUSIC– there are plenty of music festivals such Parklife, Teletch, Damnation, Kings of Amapiano, Manchester Jazz Festival, Manchester Folk Festival.

Manchester is very proud and will tell you they are history makers due to being the birthplace for several Iconic bands to name a few, Oasis, Stone Roses, The Smiths,  New Order, Happy Mondays, Bee Gees and more recently the British Rap Artist Aitch.

Manchester is home to the world-famous music scene. For smaller venues such as the Deaf Institute to unique spaces like the Alber Hall and HUGE venues such as Manchester Arena.  You will not have to travel far to see live music.

Nightlife.

The nightlife is diverse and in Manchester could mean anything from Canal Street to Deansgate Locks to the Warehouse project.

However, nightlife in Manchester is not all about Music, there is a host of theatres and comedy clubs.

Culture

With its rich and fascinating history Manchester was the centre of the UK’s industrial revolution and the city lead by textile manufacturing boomed in the 19th Century.  The worker bee that swarms all over Manchester, on every bench, bollard, or bin, you are never too far from this bee.  A symbol of Manchester and its link to the hardest working insect. It is a representation for this iconic city’s industrial legacy.

From art to football there are plenty of museums and galleries to explore in Manchester.

The Imperial War Museum to the amazing John Rylands Library.

Sport

Manchester… Utd or City.  Both world famous football clubs however Manchester is not just home to football, you can spend the day watching cricket at Lancashire Country Club or enjoy a game of Rugby Union watching Sale Sharks.

Not to forget the 2020 Commonwealth Games legacy means you can experience the aquatics centre, Athletics arena and the VELODROME.

Shopping

If you love to shop, then look no further.  Manchester is home to The Trafford Centre, The Royal Exchange,  Arndale plus so much more.
